Since 2006, the Institute has been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Bashkortostan Bikbov Muharram Mukhtaramovich.
Since the same year, there have been profound changes in the field of scientific research and ophthalmological practice. Currently, the Institute employs 109 ophthalmologists and researchers, including 9 doctors and 34 candidates of science, 2 Honored Doctors of the Russian Federation and 10 Honored Doctors of the Republic of Belarus, 51 doctors of the first and highest categories.

The Institute closely cooperates with scientific ophthalmological schools in Russia and far abroad: Germany, Austria, Singapore, Switzerland, Great Britain, Japan, India, etc. There is a constant exchange of experience in the development and implementation of new technologies for surgery of socially significant diseases of the organ of vision.
The international conference on ophthalmology "East-West" is held annually, in which well-known ophthalmologists of Russia and the world take part.
Every year, more than 40 thousand patients receive treatment at the institute. More than 70 thousand people receive advice in the clinic every year. The number of treated patients with such socially significant diseases as cataracts over the past 10 years has increased 12 times, retinal diseases - almost 15 times. |
